This course explains the need for the integration of manufacturing systems and deals with the multitude of their practical problems. This course studies the design of digital control systems. This course examines the computational issues involved in robot motion planning, sensing, and control including representation and handling of uncertainty for motion planning/sensing/control, computational complexity of different motion planning problems, sensor-based motion planning and control, active vision, and robot learning.

Intelligent Robots
This course explores the world of intelligent robots. Intelligent robots are characterized by their ability to autonomously plan and execute motion sequences; to achieve a goal specified by a human user without detailed instructions. This is in contrast to most current industrial robots that have to be pre-programmed with very little adaptability in their task execution. Intelligent robots can also be characterized by their ability to operate in an uncertain and changing the environment with the help of appropriate sensing, such as computer vision.

This distance learning education program is completed by a traditional correspondence instruction method. Once you sign up for the course, Bircham International University will send you (to your mailing address) the suggested textbooks. After reading the book, you will be asked to write a 20 to 35 pages report that reflect your understanding of the book. This report is equivalent to the exam and can be submitted by email or mail. Bircham International University will evaluate your written work. If passed, BIU will issue the corresponding diploma.
