Ideas are effectively presented and designed to give students a cohesive view of the what, why, and how of developmentally appropriate practices. It addresses various aspects (age, individual, social and cultural) of adaptation. It is designed for current and future early childhood professionals who work with children aged three to twelve. Also, this program covers the characteristics of students with special needs, the latest assistive technologies, and the new definitions and classifications of developmental challenges.

This course provides guidance to observe children in structured and unstructured situations, to record these observations, and how to use them to assess the strengths and needs of individual children. Children with Special Needs
This course deals with the characteristics of learners with special needs, as well as some of the latest assisting technologies, and new definition and classification system for mental retardation. It explores child's developmental readiness, learning styles, and social-emotional needs. It shows ways of adapting the classroom to meet the needs of children with special requirements.

This course discusses how to support children’s native languages as they transition into the acquisition of a second language. It explores the role of culture, home, and classroom contexts in the acquisition and development of language. It examines home, school, and community connections to multilingual children education.

Child Development: Language, Math & Science
This course explores ways in which children; starting from infancy; acquire language, develop the basis of literacy, and come to understand their social world. It also focuses on the ways in which children construct knowledge through play and exploration, and ways of helping children develop early math concepts, engage in scientific explorations, and engage in creative problem solving.

This course reviews the principles of learning and memory by examining various learning theories, memory research, perception, information processing, and problem-solving. This course focuses on the theories and models of learning as applied to the fields of education, cognitive psychology, and artificial intelligence. Disabilities & Assistive Technology
This course is designed to help professionals in schools understand assistive technology for students with disabilities. It focuses on students with mild mental handicaps, learning disabilities, or emotional disturbances. It also explains teaching strategies for students with disabilities including: autism, brain injury, deafness, blindness, orthopedic and other health impairments, and multiple handicaps.

METHOD OF INSTRUCTION: Distance Learning Higher Education

 

This distance learning education program is completed by a traditional correspondence instruction method. Once you sign up for the course, Bircham International University will send you (to your mailing address) the suggested textbooks. After reading the book, you will be asked to write a 20 to 35 pages report that reflect your understanding of the book. This report is equivalent to the exam and can be submitted by email or mail. Bircham International University will evaluate your written work. If passed, BIU will issue the corresponding diploma. 1. Location: Bircham International University needs a functional geographical location to ship the book and materials for successful completion of this program of study.

For a program of 21 credits, the estimated time for completion is 21 weeks. For 45 credits, the estimated time for completion will be 45 weeks, and so on. Calculations are approximate. The length of each distance learning degree program is calculated based on an average of 15 hours of learning per week.
